Some Facts about High speed Limits and Car Accidents
In 2014, many US Citizens died following serious car accidents which are closely related to the speeding and many other things. Failure to use the seatbelts, careless driving, speeding, and bad weather, are some of the reasons there are many car crashes in the US. There is an exponential increase in the rate at which car accidents occur in the US and this has raised a lot of concern among the government officials and the ordinary citizens.
Sources have it that 28 percent of the total wreckage reported in the US are linked with speeding. Despite the strict rules and regulations made to reduce the rate of car accidents, still many people continue to get injured on the roads. Since 2005, speeding has been observed and reported as the primary factor leading to the increasing number of people losing their life due to several car accidents. Bad weather, lateness to work, lack of visibility, and driving under the influence are some of the things that make people speed on the road hence leading to accidents.
The government has even tried to control this problem by ensuring that the road signs are available at various points of the road. Unfortunately, only a few people tend to obey those signs as they believe to have enough expertise in driving and should not pay attention to the road signs, they end up causing road accidents, and this is how the death toll finds its way up. It cannot be claimed that the poor roads are the major cause of accidents in the US since the Government has always attempted to ensure that all main roads are in good condition and that they are kept that way.
It is a proven fact that most accidents take place on the roads which are not highways and so, it contributes to the 35 percent of the total wreckage experienced in the US. It can be concluded that most drivers tend to over speed when they notice that no one is watching them and they end up causing fatal accidents. On the other hand, only 29 percent of gross car crash happened on the highways. It is due to the availability of strict surveillance of main roads that the drivers tend to pay attention to the speed limits.
On the other hand, it has been reported that most of the car accidents today experienced were not due to speeding. Along the highways, vehicles move in high speed, and this means that the slow drivers are most likely to cause car crash hence leading to injuries and or deaths. More than 9,262 people lost their lives in the same way in 2014. It is, therefore, safe to conclude that as much as speeding is a cause of many deaths in the US, moving slowly along the highways have contributed to quite some car crashes that ended up claiming many lives.
